Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Hello,
I am an instructor. I accidentally deleted an assignment. The assignment included submissions from students. Is it possible for me to recover the assignment and the link?
Thank you for any feedback!

Hello @marina1 ...
There is a way to recover items that you have deleted in your course. @hollands has written a great blog in the Canvas Admins group about how to do this (if you're not a member of that group, you might consider joining). Here is a direct link to his blog: Undeleting things in Canvas. Hope this helps!!!
THANK YOU! I really appreciate your response.
@marina1 , @Chris_Hofer has given you great advice. I'll add this in case anyone else comes across this question: If, for some reason, the steps in @Robbie_Grant 's blog post don't work in your case, submit a help ticket to Canvas Help so they can work their awesome magic.
Thank you for this information Chris. I had accidentally deleted a group of a dozen assignments that all had multiple student submissions. They are all now back where they belong 🙂
The link you gave leads to this: The page you are trying to access was not found. Please check your URL for typos and try again.
I did a search for it and found it here:

Very helpful! The "undelete" tip worked for me!

Something else to consider, depending on when you created/deleted the assignment, it should still be on the Canvas test environment (with grades, etc) - How do I access the Canvas test environment?
Does someone have a link to the solution? The links given here all lead to this: The page you are trying to access was not found. Please check your URL for typos and try again.

The above link did not work, but after a while I figured out how to recover deleted assignments.
Go to History under your account
Then click on the one you deleted
Look at the URL it will say something like this: https://instructure.com/courses/2243/assignments
What you have to do is click enter on the URL and delete the word "assignment" at the end and replace it with undelete. It should look like this: https://instructure.com/courses/2243/undelete
It will then take you to all of your most recent deleted assignments, choose the one you need restored and click it.
I hope this helped some of you. I do not know if the set up changes depending on the district or maybe the type of device that you use, but just in case I am using a lap top HP ProBook model.
