Every time I change my profile picture in blend, it uploads but i'm left with a transparent profile picture. Somehow, the gravatar pfp works instead.

Sorry to see that you are having troubles with your profile picture in Canvas.  Depending on your role, are you following the instructions in either of these Guides:

Also, some schools (not all) use official photos and do not allow you to upload your own photo.  (Not saying that this is the case for you, but just thought I'd mention it.)

Have you tried uploading a different image?  Have you tried using a different browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome?  Have you tried clearing your browser history/cache?
