[ARCHIVED] Using Ungraded Quiz as a log

Could I use an ungraded quiz with multiple attempts for students to submit a running log of how they used their work time?  It would be ideal if the student could also see what they had already entered.  Or is there a better way within Canvas to accomplish this goal.  The three questions to answer for each log entry are: date worked, work category, and summary of work completed.

Hello,  @jessica_gogerty  .  Great question.  You can make this as an ungraded quiz.  You will need to write the 3 questions.

Have you thought about having them put this information into their calendar?  Are you going to grade it, eventually, or just their final product?

Thank you @Jennifer Carpenter. I don't want to grade it.  But I do want to see a set of responses for each person.  I'm worried that putting it in the calendar will really fill up my calendar with a LOT of junk and be difficult to parse out by participant to see the larger patterns of work.  I'm not really interested in what specific day was worked-- it is an organizing feature. I'm much more interested in how they categorized the work and the summary of the work accomplished. 

Another suggestion I got was to make it a "group discussion" with a group size of 1.  However, groups must have a minimum of 2 people to be groups. 

I'm wondering if a class notebook might also work. But I've found OneNote to be difficult/confusing to use in the past.  Maybe it is different now or maybe I've learned things that would make my understanding of it easier now.

I made them all essay questions!  This is probably what you were thinking of in the original question.  In SpeedGrader, you can look at the log for each student and see what they put in with each attempt.
