[ARCHIVED] User accounts being deleted

Hi, 

recently, when I add users, they are not receiving a confirmation email to verify who they are. I request for the email to be resent, but still nothing. As a workaround, I have been adding a login and password so they can at least access their accounts. 

However, after around 5 days, the accounts completely disappear, including being removed from all the courses they were enrolled in. 

Even the content that these users add, completely disappear and doesn't seem to be retrievable (used the /delete extension and nothing shows up) 

Any insights into what could possibly be happening? I have made some of these accounts 5/6 times over by now.
