[ARCHIVED] Use previously uploaded file as stimulus in New Quizzes?

I'm just getting started with newquizzes‌, so I don't know enough to troubleshoot this myself and figure out if I'm missing a trick somewhere.

I have a quiz I normally give on paper that I'm trying to add to Canvas. I have a PDF file of the reading passage the quiz is over, and I've already uploaded this file to Canvas. Is it possible for me to access my files for the Canvas course while using the "New Quizzes" tool, or do I have to upload the file again to make it appear in the "#stimulus area?

Hi, Rachel,

You can add the PDF as a workaround in the Rich Content Editor. Open your files, and right-click your PDF to get the Copy Link Address option. You need the URL to the file. In New Quizzes, find the Insert/Edit link option, and paste the URL into the window. It's not seamless, and the file will download for students to be able to view, but it does work.

What I've ended up doing for now is, since I don't want the content downloadable by students, period, is I've got everything in google drive and I'm embedding it using the Google Drive tool in the rich content editor (but I'm doing it in old quizzes at the moment for other reasons). I'll test it both the google drive work-around and your work around in new quizzes at some point soon.

I know there have been a couple of other questions related to PDFs. We have an Ideas space to collect feature ideas for our product team. I'd recommend that you share your idea of adding PDFs like this as a new idea along with your use case and workflow; I'm sure there are others out there who would love to find this idea and vote on it as well.
