Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know of a touch typing program that integrates with Canvas? We are hoping students will be able to click on a course in Canvas and have assignments right there.
Thanks,
Tech Dave
Hello there, @dheup ...
I'm not familiar with what "touch typing" is, so I cannot really share any resources that might be available. But, you said you wanted to click on a course and see the assignments right away. There is a way to set the "Home" page to see the assignment list right away when you log into a course. If you take a look at this Guide, How do I change the Course Home Page? - Instructure Community, you will see that you can set the "Assignment List" as your "Home" page for you and your students. Is this what you are looking for? Or, is there more to it than that? If there is more to it...please provide some more details on what "touch typing" is so we can continue to help...thanks!
They mean a program that teaches students to type. There are many that sync with Clever, but I can't find any that sync with Canvas. They're referring to being able to assign typing assignments right through Canvas or at least have some grading functionality that shows students have completed a typing activity, like TestOut does for Microsoft Office, for example. Can you locate any such resources on your end? I currently use Typing.com and they say Canvas integration is "coming soon."
@KAYLEECHILD ...
I would still like to hear from Dave (@dheup) on this one to be sure of what he is asking. But, thank you for a possible explanation. When I look for third-party apps that integrate with Canvas, I always go here:
Yes, @KAYLEECHILD, that is what I am looking for. Looking at the Edu Apps, I don't see any typing programs.
So maybe a better question would be what data points would Canvas need in order to create an API that could pull assignments from a third-party vendor? Perhaps one of them would be willing to develop something.
