After building a course, remodeling it, and redesigning it again, it's time to look at the modules and see if they can be moved from MEH to Marvelous.

Your Thoughts

The main challenge (as I currently view it), is attempting to build out a course that might be face to face, might be hybrid (F2F and online), or online only. Yes -- three options. We are being asked to prepare to change to the model the school board decides; however, the board might not decide until July. I cannot wait until July. That is not in my nature. 

This means, when you look at the module, does it flow for online only? Does it flow for the student who scans rather than reads? Is it chunked / separated?

The goal for each module is to set requirements and to match the 5E model (or HyperDocs variation of the 5E), improve the guiding questions (which currently don't show if a student pushes next).

What else would you change to improve the module?

Constraint: This is only an orientation module. It is not a content module (missing reading, assessments). The hope is to get students used to the module flow from day one of the course.

Great post lph‌ and enjoyed reading the progression and your thoughts.

The use of capitals and text help distinguish the course element from the task. I also like how you have broken up each section with what looks like a discussion although the icon is not familiar to me.

I was wondering why you had not considered using the Text Headers option as a way of breaking up/chunking each section? I use this quite a lot in my Physics course for Lessons

Modules with a lot of tasks can be a struggle and I wish there was something further to break them up - sub-modules anyone?

It would also be great if tasks were revealed as students came to them. I sometimes find students are put off a little when there is a long list. Perhaps if students had the option of opening/closing tasks so they could be hidden/visible from the Module might make things more appealing.

The other option you could play about with is the indenting so the 1.1. sections are more exaggerated?

Your comments are spot on regarding indent and setting requirements. I’ve decided getting started with modules is easy; Making them marvelous is more thoughtful provoking. 

I missed Cat Flippen’s presentation on modules. It’s worth the time.
