Hi, what restrictions are there for sub-account names?

For example, how many characters are allowed, are special characters allowed, can I use Chinese characters?

Very interesting question which I was curious to give a go for myself.

From what I found, I managed 182 characters in the name without issue (haven't tried longer) as you will see from the screenshot below, practically once you reach this it kinda falls offscreen (as, although you can, I am not sure anyone would think many people would go that far or beyond). I definitely recommend shorter than that.

I did also try a few Chinese characters, an array of special characters and I have to hand it to Canvas, it took all of them like a BOSS!

So, I can certainly say I think you should be PRETTY much OK to give things a go. I can also confirm that then clicking on those, they also load fine too:

So, I would say give them a go, if you are unsure, you can always use your institution's Test or Beta environments to be sure just in case something goes awry!
