Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Question: in Speedgrader, when leaving a video comment, is it possible to leave a screen recording rather than a “me” recording?
Hi @lhughes . This isn't possible now, but there is a feature idea created for this functionality (see https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/3986-screen-capture-with-audio-as-a-comment-option" modifiedti...). I would suggest voting this up and leaving a comment of support if you like. I believe it would be a great option!
Hello @lhughes Thank You for posting your question. While the SpeedGrader does not offer any built-in tools to record a screen capture instead of a video of yourself, this still would be possible. I see you are from Richland Community College. I can't recall if your school purchased Canvas Studio (formerly Arc) from Instrucure, but I think my friend @kona would be able to tell you for sure. If you do have access to Canvas Studio, you could record your screen capture in Studio. How do I record a screen capture video in Canvas Studio? Then, you could either:
If you do not have Canvas Studio, you'd probably need to find some other software (such as Camtasia) that can create screen captures/recordings. Then, you can upload the file as a media comment as described above.
I hope this helps, Laurie. Please let us know if you have any other questions about this...thanks!
Chris, Thank you for the help. I do use this exact method already actually, but it would be much quicker to have "screen capture" video in the comments section rather than have to do the multi-step process here.
Hi!
I know that this is kind of an old topic, but you can use OBS Studio to do this.
1. Download and install OBS Studio https://obsproject.com/
2. Set up a display capture
3. Click Start Virtual Camera
4. Click Media Comment in speed grader, and select your OBS virtual camera.
Thanks! This sounds a bit faster than my current method. Wish Canvas would just connect Canvas Studio to the Feedback area.
