Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
This afternoon a faculty member, myself, and a student all are getting this error when trying to use lockdown browser, all within the following systems: the canvas app on ipad, the lockdown browser on Mac, the chrome browser on Mac, the canvas webpage on ipad, and the lockdown browser on ipad. I've tried updating, restarting googling, searching canvas and respondus support and talking to our other IT members.
Does anyone know what this "error robot" is trying to tell us (see attached) but I am unable to find a rhyme or reason behind the error. error robot on lockdown browser student view from administrator access
Hi Stephanie,
Are you seeing the robot when trying to take the quiz, or when trying to view the quiz results?
I'm a Canvas admin at my school, and we saw this error today. One group of students took a quiz using New Quizzes and Respondus LDB early in the day with no issues. A second set of students tried to take the same exact quiz later in the day, and everyone got the error robot. I added myself to the course as a student to test it myself, and I got the error robot also.
We tried the following: updating LDB, starting from Canvas, starting from LDB, duplicating the quiz. We got the error robot every time. I also double-checked the settings, and it everything was set up correctly.
The only way we could get rid of the error robot was to remove LDB from the quiz. After it was removed, everyone was able to take the quiz with no problems.
So, this appears to be a Respondus issue, but I'm not seeing any mention of the error robot in Respondus. This post is the only thing I could find.
We were having the same issue this morning. I was able to test and got LDB to work in New Quizzes in Firefox and Chrome in Private browser window. It worked in Safari and Edge in regular browser windows. I suspect cross-site tracking or something in the browser.
