Hi all,

We had setup the redirect tool and the external URL is pointed to our in-house system.

We would like to include Canvas username in the external URL, (for example: https://abc.com?username=ABC)

We found the document about substitutions.

https://canvas.instructure.com/doc/api/file.tools_variable_substitutions.html

Please advise how to do that in the LTI setting. Thanks a lot

Hello, I'm trying to adjust this field, just like yours that takes a parameter from the canvas to the url of the redirect. Did you get any results?

If you have the permission to edit LTI details, using the format:

url=https://www.example.com?username=${Canvas.user.loginId}

seems to work for me.  Of course you will use an appropriate url, and you can replace the "Canvas.user.loginId" part with a different variable depending on your use case.

I was using the course id as a parameter, but I managed to make it work thanks to your comment.
Thanks, for those who need it one day I'll leave the code to redirect to a specific page by course id.
