Is there a way to automate page numbers within a module through HTML?

for each module I like to say on page 1 of 8, then so on and so on. I thought maybe there would be a way through html that could update it automatically if I were to add a page.

Well, that's an interesting question,  @jms552 ​! I guess what you have in mind is something like the automated header/footer fields in Word. I'm going to share this with the Instructional Designers​ group to see if they have any ideas.

 @jms552 , it looks like you have the Community stumped! (So far, at least.) I strongly suspect that this isn't possible because of the discrete nature of content pages. Inasmuch as the links to the content pages in the Modules can be dragged and dropped into any order, I don't know that a piece of code exists that can detect and correct for that movement.

Nevertheless, to attract some fresh eyes to this, I'll re-tag the Instructional Designers​ group--and who knows, maybe the Canvas Developers​ folks might have some insight.

I've never seen an example where someone has done anything like this.  I would also suspect that it isn't possible due to the discrete nature of content items in Canvas.

In fact i have the same question, and i am really surprised that there is no default solution for this in Canvas.
