What am I missing?

I have asked the students to submit a self-portrait in the style of Surrealism. They have attached a picture to the summary, which I can click on 'Plastic bag' to see. But, once I click on the picture, how do I get back to their summary?

I need see both the summary and the picture at the same time. As in, while looking at the picture, I can read their summary to gain in insight into the picture. How do I go back? There is no button to switch back to the text. 

Once I click the picture, I'm forced to grade and move on to the next student.

Hi Kelly Perez,

You've definitely encountered a workflow issue. I'd say it's because how the students have attached the photo to the discussion rather than embedding it in the discussion. Knowing that you can either see the discussion text or the picture in the Speedgrader screen, I would suggest downloading the pictures (see highlight) so you can leave the discussion text visible in Speedgrader.

I also suggest that you change the grade posting visibility while grading this assignment so that you can go back and forth between students if you need to and students will not be notified until you release the grades.

 @kperez108 , when I was teaching humanities courses online I had a very similar discussion assignment. The approach I used won't help you address the issue you're currently encountering, but perhaps it will make your workflow easier in the future. Specifically, I disabled students' ability to attach files to their discussion posts (or to edit/delete them) and gave them instructions to embed the image in their reply; when they provide the image in this fashion, it will display for you in Speedgrader. No downloads necessary.
