Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Is there a way to modify the permissions so that a teacher can submit assignments without being added to a course in a "student" role?
Thanks!
Christine

Ah, ok, thanks for that extra information! What I would recommend is to create a custom role for the account or sub-account the course is in, and add the permission for adding/editing calendar events. You can read more about this in https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10830-421473662 I don't think you would want to modify the existing student or teacher roles because that would affect users enrolled in other courses as a Teacher or Student.
Hi @christinemoore . It might help to know more about the situation. One thing I can think of is called "Student View" which allows anyone with the teacher role to view their course as a student would see it. Using this functionality creates a "Test Student" in the course and all actions taken while in Student View appear as if the Test Student had performed them, including submitting assignments. Hello, Adam. Thank you for the response.
I was aware of the student view option, and apologize for not giving a more detailed explanation for my question.
We have a Canvas course build for educators and these educators are added as "students". However, we want them to also be able to add to the course calendar, which students cannot do. If they are added as "teachers" then they cannot submit assignments as a student does.
So my question is this: is there a way to create/modify a teacher role so he/she can submit assignments as a student does (not in student view because that doesn't work with google drive) or modify/create a student role so he/she can add to the course calendar?
Thanks so much for your time and your help!

Thanks so much, Adam. That is exactly what I did and it works great.
