Why isn't my canvas working on my MacBook Pro? Is there something I have to download in order for it to work?

Hello,  @k_lynch  Welcome to the Canvas Community! On the assumption you're using Safari to access Canvas, it sounds like you're experiencing an issue with an out-of-date browser. Since Safari is part of the Mac OS, you will need to update the operating system to update Safari. Here are a couple of links about how to do this from the Apple support site:

Hello Sefanie

It is not an out of date browser.  CANVAS doesn't work with the latest MacBook Pro 16 with up to date browsers; both Safari and Google Chrome.  The share TAB function doesn't work with applications, so you can't show the students what you are doing in an app outside of the browser.  This comes from a teacher in Interactive Media at RMIT.  This needs to be fixed urgently as the system at present is unusable.

Please ask the teacher to use the support links on the Help menu to request assistance from Canvas Support with this specific issue. General instructions are in How do I get help with Canvas as an instructor?‌, but it is possible that your institution has customized its support options, so please ask the teacher to use the support pathway established by the school.
