Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Is there a way to lock the primary email account for student accounts? I don't mind them adding additional email addresses, but we use their school email to place them in manually created courses for our school. When they change their email address, I can't get them enrolled in those courses.

Hi!! At the account level, go to settings. In the first tab, also called settings, there is an option that limits a user's ability to change their email address. To "lock" those institution-assigned email addresses, make sure the box is unchecked.
Users will be able to add additional emails. Unfortunately, as outlined in Is there a way to prevent users from adding additional email addresses? it's hard to prevent users from making a non-institutional email the primary email on their account. I know that thread is old, so if this has changed in the last year, I hope that someone chimes in.
I agree in a K-12 district. It is important for us to have a consistent way to communicate with students through a district email account. I don't mind if students add a secondary one either. I don't want them deleting their district one

Thanks so much for the information. I had that box unchecked, so they aren't deleting the email, but changing it. Is there any way to lock it completely so they can't change it either?
