I'm trying to put in a late period..right now it's locking the assignment as soon as it's due. I'd like them to be able to complete the assignment late for a few days before it locks. Is this possible

Hi  @maylettc , 

Yes, you can set the availability dates for an assignment as well as the due date. When you set up the assignment and enter the due date, you can then add in the availability dates for when it opens up for students and when it closes down.

This will help identify those students who submit after the due date and sets a Late status on the assignment submission in the Gradebook. You might find this Canvas Doc on Due dates and availability dates helpful.
