[ARCHIVED] ID processes - Discussion author visibility workarounds and import overwrite behaviour

Hi all, I have asked a q in the knowledge forum that is relevant to this group, so if you have any tips or advice on what you do as you are working through a similar scenario I would be interested to hear about it.
The issue is related to creating a large number of discussions while hiding discussion author/creator name visibility, at the same time navigating some issues with Canvas copy/import behaviour if you want to keep reusing/recopying the same content (Canvas generally wants to overwrite stuff by default)

I haven't had any experience with templates but because the number and ways in which I might need to build discussions changes based on the content/subject matter (rather than being consistent across course designs) I don't imagine templates will be that relevant in this case.
