How do I make buttons on my homepage?

Hi  @deb_nichols  Welcome to the Canvas Community.

There are all sorts of ways to make buttons. 

Some people use powerpoint to create them, others use online tools link these:

• https://dabuttonfactory.com/  Widely recommended, super-easy to use, lets you add bubble effect 

• http://buttonoptimizer.com/ Lets you embed icons within the button 

• http://www.glassybuttons.com/ Ooohhhh…. That glassy effect! Click on “recent” to get templates for capsule, square, and round. And, yes, you can embed icons in these buttons. Generates a zip folder with normal and rollover jpg and png files  

• https://www.imagefu.com/create/button 

  Super-easy, lets you control rounding on individual corners, lets you add wave FX 

• http://www.bestcssbuttongenerator.com/ 

  Fairly plain, flat, but super-easy, and you can get the button as css or html 

• http://css3buttongenerator.com/ 

  Lets you control the attributes directly with code, which you type in, for those who prefer precise customising and know a little bit of code 

• http://livetools.uiparade.com/button-builder.html Lets you set the normal state, hover state, and pressed state 

• https://canvas.instructure.com/styleguide#buttons Simple, clean buttons that use your Canvas theme

I see that you are in Tasmania. If you go to Canvas Commons and filter to the Dept of Education Tasmania then search for Buttons there are lots of resources there too that you can put straight into your course.
