[ARCHIVED] Hide student names- even in email lists?

HI:

We can use the navigation tool to hide the people tab in the course so students can't see each other, but they can go into the inbox and use the send drop down to see a list of all students. For distance ed courses where there is a need to keep clients anonymous, we need to be able to turn this off at a course level. It doesn't seem to be possible. Is there an admin tool I'm missing?

There was a question similar to this Restrict Email (inbox) and here was the reply from Stefanie:

"A Canvas admin can turn off the ability for students to message each other—but that setting would prevail for the entire account."
