Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Hi,
Is there a way to Hide "Unpublished" status before the Start Date so students don't get confused that the class doesn't have content.
Instead, can we hide the title totally until the Start Date?
Thanks

Hi Quan,
This feature is now available as part of the Canvas release notes. You can restrict students from viewing courses before the start date, and additionally select a second option that restricts students from viewing the enrollment in their courses list. This feature should work for hiding an unpublished course as well, since this feature hides the name of any course that is a future enrollment. For more information see Canvas Production Release Notes (2016-02-20)
Thanks!

@qnguyen , I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly. Are you asking to hide your course from students until the course start date (per the Course settings?) regardless of whether the course is published or not? If so, then this sounds like something you would want to talk to the Canvas administrators at your Institution about. At our Institution faculty can publish their courses whenever they want, but students do not have access to the course until the course start date (our faculty also have the ability to control this). If I'm misunderstanding, then please let me know what you are trying to do/accomplish and I'll try to help!
Hi @kona
I am actually the Admin. Some students addressed that the word Unpublished actually shows up next to the class title , and its greyed out too. Since the class is not Published. I just like to do somehow like in Blackboard, students don't see anything, not even the title
So you don't even want the course to show up at all if it's not published? Is that correct?
I did some double-checking and from this (lengthy) conversation - What's the expected behavior of the course checkbox "Restrict students from viewing course before st... - I don't believe it is possible to hide future enrollments from students, regardless of whether they are published or not. erinhallmark, could you confirm or deny this?
Hi Kona and @qnguyen ,
Currently no. But there will shortly be a new feature that will make that happen.
Erin
Yay! Thanks for the confirmation and great news!
Thanks, that's great
