[ARCHIVED] End of year rollover

Hi,

We are nearing the end of our first year of using Canvas and are wondering what the procedure is to roll over our courses for 2020.

We currently integrate with Edumate our school Student Information System and course creation and enrollments come from there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At my school, we recommend that instructors have a development version of every course they teach.  They can then reset the development course and copy their semester course into it at the end of each semester.  They can then make changes to the development course and then copy it into their course for the next semester.

We only keep semester courses on the Canvas system for 2 years and 1 week beyond the end of the semester they were taught in.

Hey Justin,

Following on from Robbie's answer, it's really important to have some flexibility around the end of the year rollover process. Usage of content management tools (with supporting documentation) such as Commons and Blueprints can help win over teachers - especially blueprints when used accordingly.

Our team did a webinar this time last year on things to consider which you can watch here. You might want to also use this time to suggest:

• Consistency through course templates
• Additional functionality through features that havent been used.
• Develop a checklist to ensure that teachers maximise Canvas functionality
