[ARCHIVED] Discussions and automatic subscription

Every time I post a reply in a discussion area I am being automatically subscribed to that discussion.  I do not wish to be subscribed without choosing to subscribe.  Is there a workaround for this issue?

No, there's no workaround. This is one of the (many) little things that drive me batty about how Canvas Works. There have been some discussions and feature requests about disabling this "feature", but so far it's what we're being forced to deal with. I just make it a point to go through the list of discussions and "unsubscribe" to them after each session. The problem is that if my class is having a particularly active discussion and I participate (as I frequently do), I can end up with a bunch of notices within a few minutes before I've had a chance to unsubscribe.

I got the same request from one of the faculties to disable the automatic subscription to the forums for faculty. I checked with Tier 1 and found that it is still impossible to do. It would be nice to have this option available when creating the new forum.
