Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Please make the order of the To Do list on the Dashboard to be in order of submission, such that the most recent item submitted is added to the end of the list, rather than the beginning.
I use the To Do to grade assignments and would like to grade them in the order they are submitted, across all the classes I am teaching.

Hello Betsy,
So there is not a way to change how the to-do list organizes the entries as it will default to organize them in chronological order using the due date. We were able to verify this from your dashboard. If you need any assistance with this please let us know. Thanks!

I wonder if that is a setting each institute can have in their instance of Canvas. I just checked my to-do list and it has the assignments in the order of increasing dates (earliest submission at the top latest submission at the bottom) - I do not know about interleaving of items from different classes because my two classes are in the correct order with the first three entries being for 1 class and the last entry for the other one. I will know for sure come Friday when the first class has another assignment due.
The order you suggest makes the most sense and i would have thought that would be what Canvas would do. Maybe someone else will respond with their information.

Thank you, this is helpful
Would you consider adding a setting to allow instructors to change the order? 🙂
The rationale is that if an instructor allows multiple attempts (or students submit work after due dates), those submissions are at the top, when I would rather grade the assignments in the order submitted out of fairness. This is especially true when I have 60 students in 5 or 6 sections.
Hello @bgamrat ...
If you want to see new functionality added to Canvas, you'll need to submit that as a Feature Idea here in the Community. Here are a few documents for you to look at to get started with this process:
I hope this will help a bit. Sing out if you have any questions...thanks!
Hi there!
A bit late to the thread but I'm wondering what "chronological order" is enabled when there are no due dates, because the assignments my pupils hand in seem to be in no chronological order at all.
Best regards!
