Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Hello Canvas,
Does anyone know if there is a way to create a link (for example in a page) to a whole folder of resources rather than just an individual file?
Many thanks,
Amy

There is not a "built-in" way to do this, but it is possible. Here is a short screen cast showing you:

If your students use Canvas by Instructure mobile apps, be aware that direct folder links won't work directly in the app -- they will open a mobile browser (e.g., Safari).
Also, folder links don't work well as External URL items in Modules.
In the old community we were told that full support for linking to Files folders was not planned. Perhaps it's time for a Feature Idea to ask that this be reassessed...
In your Files, navigate to the desired folder, then copy the URL from your browser's address/location bar. Paste the URL into the desired page, or use the Link to URL tool on the RCE toolbar.
Thank you Nelson !

Ah I see - fantastic thank you !
Hi @Robbie_Grant ,
One of our Faculty used this method hoping to make the folder's content accessible to students.
However, in our testing it appears the folder link is accessible only to those users in the Teacher role, but not Student.
When a student clicks on the folder link, it pops them to their own Canvas Files storage.
Even though I'm a Canvas Admin, the same behavior occurs for me when I click on the link.
If this is not the intended behavior, I'll submit a ticket to Canvas support, but just wanted to ask what your experience is first.
Thank you for your time.
Bridget
Thanks Robbie.
I'm trying to do this, almost 2 years down the track, while I can open that screencast link. It doesn't seem to play anymore. (I've tried it in different browsers; try to move the time bar at the bottom also doesn't seem to change the screen.)
Would you be able to make it available again?
Thank you!

Yes, I think it is time for Canvas to add this as a feature. Everyone needs to go to Submit a Feature Idea in their Help section and suggest this!
@rosenglicks ...
FYI, the area to submit Feature Ideas here in the Community has temporarily been disabled until the beginning of February 2023. Instructure is doing some work on the Feature Idea process, and you can read more about it at this link:
Hi, please can you share the screencast again?
Yes, please share the screencast again.

The screencast video is still not available so this question no longer has an acceptable answer. Please repost!
Come on Canvas! It's been years. Please let's get this going!!
