Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
I would love to hear from others that are using Canvas + Seesaw in the elementary setting (PK-5).
Thank you in advance!

Looking for best practices in setting up K-2 modules, with or without SeeSaw. Any suggestions?
I have found a way to embed Seesaw into Canvas so the students don't have to leave Canvas while completing an activity on Seesaw. Let me know if you would like to see the process. Thanks!
Here is the Screenshot of how we added it as an app.

I've been thinking about this as well. I love Seesaw and think I would send students there for some of their activities or maybe to use the draw space (one of my favorite features.). They don't talk to one another that I can find, but I can see Canvas housing core instruction with maybe a practice/activity taking place in Seesaw. Teachers would link Seesaw from their Canvas page/module to direct them.

Seesaw and Canvas do not work well together by just adding the link. It is not as intuitive or simple as that. When you add the link, it goes to the teachers side of the activities and not to the student side. The only way I have found this to work is if you link directly to the assigned activity or use the redirect tool in navigation that just takes you to the general Seesaw page. I am curious on how this works on the iPads as well, as you have to use the iOS app for Seesaw and can't use the browser on a mobile device.

Just saw this follow-up post. Thanks for the info!
Hello,
We have added SeeSaw as an app onto Canvas, but we're still having trouble embedding an assignment so that it is seen in Canvas, and it's not just a link to SeeSaw. Any support on this is greatly appreciated!
The other day I was able to add Seesaw activities to my Canvas modules for each day as an external tool. When you clicked the link it took you right to the activity. Now when I try to set up new activities they just go to Seesaw. I don't know if something on Canvas changed or I'm doing something wrong.
Are teachers able to access "Edit App" or do you need to be an Admin? If teachers can access it, can you let me know where? Thank you!
Yes, please share!
I would love the information on this!
Would you please share with me step by step. I've added it as a redirect in the navigational menu - but there are some issues.. Especially when students are accessing via the mobile app in Canvas student since SeeSaw requires the app in ios. Any help would be appreciated!
I saw your screenshot - but I don't fully understand:(
You will have to use a browser on the iPad and not the iOS app. I have asked Seesaw about using another browser or allowing the web access in the app and they said it isn't possible. If you use a browser, you can change the url where it says https://app.seesaw.me/ , change it to web instead of app and then it works.
So oddly enough.. today I played and updated both the Canvas app and my ipad.. And it worked! I have "SeeSaw" in my navigation by redirect and when I select from iOS it takes me to seesaw and back out to the Canvas App!! I made a screencast to show the functionality. It won't let me upload here, but would be happy to share.
Could you share this with me, please?

Hi all,
Here are the steps I used to get this set up in our instance:
These steps should add the Seesaw link to the course navigation in all your classes by default.
Just note that if you don't have admin access to your Canvas instance, you will need your Canvas admin to do this for you.
Thank you Tye! Another update from Seesaw for helping with limitations when using iOS devices: you can redirect students directly to the Seesaw App on iOS devices from Canvas webpage or Canvas app- note* the redirect link must "Force open in new tab (For External Links Only)" : https://app.seesaw.me/class_app_redirect/open
Hi there! I would love to look at your screencast if you are still willing to share.
Thanks!!
I would love to see that screencast @sharajohnson1 ! Sounds perfect!

Could you share your screencast for canvas / seesaw on the iPad?
Thak you. Kathryn.Ives@pfisd.net
I saw the screen shot and din't understand neither 😞
I would like to see how you integrated Seesaw into Canvas. I will be doing the same (I hope) for my K-2 teachers this summer to prepare them for an exciting new year of hybrid learning.
I would love to see the process, please
I would love to see this process! How can I connect with you?
I would love how to link the Seesaw activity directly to Canvas. Thanks in advance for your help.
@jbieber Me please
Could you send me that process
@jbieber could you please share that screencast? I am trying to do that as well.
Yes please share! Thank you!!!
Yes! I would love to know how you did this!
Thanks,
Bridget
Please outline the steps for embedding the Seesaw activity directly into the canvas activity, instead of leaving canvas and going to Seesaw.
Thank you.
@jbieber I am very interested in how you were able to embed Seesaw inside of Canvas. Any help you could give would be appreciated. Thanks
@jbieber Can you give us more details about this?
I'm curious why you're trying to use both.
We have Seesaw for grades K-6 and Canvas for 7-12. The tools available in Seesaw really allow us to tailor instruction for those early ages without having to configure different addons or apps. The elementary experience really focuses on feedback over grades through Seesaw, which is an added benefit for students building skill and confidence.
Is there something else Seesaw doesn't do that you're using Canvas to supplement? We learned early on that Canvas, particularly for the K-2 age, is just overwhelming, which led us to Seesaw.
