it tries to open the conference in another window but fails and returns to the modules.
out tech has soo far been unable to solve this, we have a valid licence with BBB, and it has been working ok so far, as of now we are using BBB as an external tool. How can the error be solved

Hi Alex,
If your running your own BigBlueButton server, recommend you update it to the latest version and make sure it's working independently of Canvas. Also, you don't need to integrate it via LTI -- you can contact your CSM and send them your BigBlueButton server's domain name and shared secret and they can configure your instance of Canvas to use your BigBlueButton server via the native Conferences interface (no need to use LTI).

Hi Alex,
I am the product manager for BigBlueButton. While I work at Blindside Networks, the company that provides hosting for Canvas Conferences to Instructure, and can't speak on behalf of Instructure, I can respond to your question.
Are you still encountering this issue?
Regards,... Fred
Hi Fred, Thanx for getting in touch, Yes we are still having the issue and our technician has so far been unable to fix, he integrated big blue button as an External tool, that is what we are using now but is challenging.

Thanx alot Fred, Let me see if this will work, will update you,
I am using BBB implemented via the Plugin in Canvas and I used the URL and the salt - t he error popped up when I was creating a conference, even though the conference did appear in the list. When clicking on join I get the same msg: There was an error joining the conference - and BBB does not load. My question:
Is this a canvas message, a BBB mis-configuration message?
Has anyone found a solution for this? Thanks in advance if you have found any clues!

Hi Micky,

Are you running your own Canvas and BigBlueButton servers? Are you modifying the settings for BigBlueButton at the Account level or are you trying to add it as an LTI tool?

Thanks for responding Fred! Yes, I am hosting the free version of Canvas on my own server and using an outsourced BBB instance. I am also using the same outsourced BBB server hooked up through WordPress - in both circumstances I am using the URL and the salt (sent to me by the BBB host) - I believe I am adding at the account level through the Plugin link on the nav in Canvas - no LTI tool involved, just the URL and the secret. Yes, I am using s different URLs and salt on the canvas and Wordpress servers as they are different host servers. BBB works fine in Wordpress, but the Canvas instance throws me the error. Trying to figure out if it is an error on the BBB host or some setting I may have missed in canvas. I used the Plugins link to input the URL and salt in canvas, not the Add APP. See image attached.
This issue is fixed and was an error in an IP address. Thank you for investigating!
I would like to follow, but have no idea how to do that. The login link
on the site takes me to a canvas account with no apparent access to the
forum..
