Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Hello. I am not quite sure where this goes so I figure I'll post it here.
Safari v13.0 was released last week, and I noticed the following issue once I updated...
When grading student work in SpeedGrader, highlights are now completely opaque.
This just happened with the update to v13.0; it was not present in v12.
Meanwhile, I am using Firefox as a workaround.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hello @John_Bradshaw ...
This looks like a bug that should be reported to the folks at the Canvas Help Desk so that they can be made aware of it and investigate if need be. Please click on the "Report a Problem" link within your Canvas "Help" menu on the left-hand side global navigation menu to open up a ticket with Canvas Support. Please be as specific as possible, and if you can also be on the page where you are seeing that error before you "Report a Problem"...all the better...as it will send additional metadata along with your ticket submission.
How do I get help with Canvas as a student?
How do I get help with Canvas as an instructor?
I hope these resources will be of help to you, John. Please report back once you've been able to contact Tech Support and get this resolved so we know what the solution was...thanks!

I have the same issue... started right after I updated to Safari v13. I've been using Firefox as a work-around.
I have the same issue but I would also like to point out that changing browsers is not necessarily a good fix. While that works for me, anyone who views the markup will also need to switch browsers if they want to view it properly. My workaround is to avoid that tool for now. It's a pain but I'd rather do that than to ask all of my students (most of which are Mac users) to switch browsers to view things.
Thank you. I do not have an option for "report a bug/problem" in my portal so I've let my campus help desk know about it. Hopefully they'll have a fix.
I know a few students have stumbled across the bug so I'm telling them to use Firefox as a temporary workaround.
I did report this. After a couple of back and forth emails with Canvas support where they asked me to perform the typical troubleshooting steps like restarting the computer and such, I received the following a few days ago:
“This case is attached to a parent ticket for the same behavior, you will be notified when there is relevant feedback on the behavior from the next level of support.”
For what it’s worth, I did confirm the behavior on more than one computer.
Are there any updates/developments on this issue? It's been five (5) months so.... ♂
Still seeing this issue... any updates? (10mo and counting....)
A couple of days ago I was notified that this has been fixed and the support ticket I submitted has been closed. I gave it a quick try and it seems to work properly.
