Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Greetings,
Is anyone aware of a tool that will scan an entire canvas course and report broken links? Thank you.

Have you watched where @jblumberg discusses the way he checks his courses via a Google spreadsheet. It's pretty amazing and you can quickly check all the links (plus more) in your courses, including pages that are published/unpublished, etc.
I love this tool and have already used it to prep this semester courses!
brian144, I know something like Check My Links will check an individual webpage, but I'm not sure if it would check your entire course in one big scan.
This might strike you as a convoluted work around, but what I do is create a course shell and then import the .imscc file of the course I want to check links into my "dummy" shell. When it imports, it will give me a list of every error and take me directly to the bad link. I use two screens and fix the real course and then delete the dummy.
Call me crazy, but it works for me.

I have a question, may be related to this discussion, not sure at this point and I do have a help ticket in, but just wanted to see if anyone has had this same or similar issue. I wanted to start a new discussion or ask a question, but not sure what to call it, because we don't know for sure what is happening!
I have an instructor that has an online blueprint reading class that he has copied over from another semester. Students (and instructor student view) you can not see some of the images in a quiz. We thought broken links, tried re-linking, still no images. Tried importing the course content into a blank course shell and it works! Deleted "corrupted" content from the course that was having issues, imported again, and still no images for students. Seems to be a bad course shell. ??? We do not want to create a new class because of SIS issues and attendance and grades, etc. Anyone have a clue what could be going on?
Deactivated user, just in case you didn't notice, Canvas is adding a "link validator" to the course settings!! This means you'll be able to check the links in your course directly from within Canvas! Pretty cool, huh? For more information check out the Canvas Beta Release Notes (2015-11-30)
