[ARCHIVED] Adding CANVAS course from COMMONS to my Dashboard?

Hi!

I am trying to add a course from Commons to my Dashboard, however, it asks me to "import it into a course" and does not give me the option to put it on my Dashboard to view it.  Do I need to create a course title on my dashboard, and then put it in there?

Hi  @dawn_campbell  

When you download from Commons, you are just downloading the content and structure of a course, essentially copying it, into an existing course shell. The download from Commons does not create a course shell.

If your school permits it, you can create your own empty shell from the Dashboard, then download your Commons course into it. https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12892-how-do-i-use-the-dashboard-as-an-instructor 

If your school does not permit you to create a new shell, then you will need to contact your school's Canvas Admin for assistance.
