Could someone explain the pros and cons of using Catalog in a separate instance as opposed to using it inside Canvas?

Having an instance that sits on top of Canvas:

- For people at your institution who take term-based courses, their profiles will be matched with their non-term based courses through Catalog

Separate instance:

- Used for primarily professional development

- Just have Catalog registrants in one instance
