When downloading a, lecture slides, pdf from the web interface the filename set by the tutor is correct eg:

"Week3 lecture 2.pdf"

When using the Android app the same lecture slides get a generic.

"PowerPoint presentation.pdf"

Hi @hidara - Which version of Canvas Student do you have installed on your device? I was unable to replicate this with my Pixel 3 running 6.13.0, but that doesn't mean the error doesn't exist for others. It'd be great to hear from you so we can continue to collaborate. In the meantime, I'll continue to explore on my device.

The first two images above are from a browser download and the name is retained. The last image is the same file being downloaded through the app but with a generic PowerPoint presentation name

Note that for a different document it seems to work perfectly

Hi klundstrum,

I finally figured out the issue.

In the browser app, if downloading a PDF the filename is used. In the Mobile app the title is used. For any PDF generated from a powerpoint document the title is automatically generated as <PowerPoint Presentation>.

About 1/2 of my lecture notes are powerpoint->PDF conversions which make the Android App less than ideal for downloading content

That's really interesting. Since there are so many different types of Android phones, I encourage you to collaborate with your local Canvas Support. They may be able to guide you through more options! They may also be able to forward your issue to Instructure Support for a more thorough exploration.
