[ARCHIVED] [ARCHIVED] Can Instructors share files (not whole courses) without using "Commons"?

Greetings,

Is there a way for files to be shared from one instructor to only certain (specified) other instructors? This would not be  sharing to "Commons", only to a few others, and it would not be sharing the whole course. 

I'd appreciate the steps, if it is possible.

If there isn't a way, I assume it can be placed in Commons, then once the other instructors have picked the file(s) up. it can be removed from Commons.

Hi Jack,

It is possible to export content from courses and reimport into a different course. In my district, may PLC groups share a 
"Closet" or Storage Course, where all common assessments and assigments are stored. They can export quizzes from that course and import as a QTI file into the new course or they can import by "copy a Canvas course," but only select certain items.

Go to Settings of the course you wish to export from.

Click Export Course content and choose your quiz.

Click Refresh and download the export.

Click Settings of your AP course.

Click import course content.

Choose QTI Zip File

Choose the file from your downloads.

Hi, Jack! There is also a relatively new feature called Direct Share - it is something that needs to be turned on by the admin. But, once it's on, your teachers can share anything directly to another teacher, right within Canvas. It will then show up in an area called "Shared Content" in their account tab. Here is one example of how a new quiz can be shared from one instructor to another. How do I use Direct Share to send a quiz to another instructor in New Quizzes?

 @Jen_Charles ‌ I think you are amazing. I didn't know about this feature. Will have to get this set up here. Both MS and HS principals just announced mandated use for fall. And I thought I was busy now.....

 @rislis ‌ - we only discovered this after the lockdown!! A former tech integrator that has gone back to the classroom full time found it and it's AWESOME. There were a few glitches but they've got them worked out now, it seems. So much easier than importing and exporting into a shared course like we used to do. But I'm so excited for you that your principals have mandated!! This is my dream world. And yes - good luck finding time to breath!!!
