Bio:
Art Historian now teaching Humanities and World History. 40 years teaching, university level & some secondary (UK and US); teaching with the web 1995 ff (plinia.net). Very frustrated with Canvas' limitations in formatting, quizzing, image display, and its tendency to strip essential coding (including its own!!). Used to create study materials with "Hot Potatoes" quizzes, which allowed useful discussion-type quizzes. Designed and built study materials with temporary pop-up images and explanations that avoided masking text while remaining visible to illustrate reading. Increasingly developed student self-direction through navigation and convenience rather than current "best practices" based on screeds of text that students do not read, and redundancy that causes confusion. Strongly interested in developing lean and agile apps to foster student skills and knowledge without slowing them down or restricting scope.
