Henry D. Wong, Rh. D., C.R.C. Biography Henry Wong is the former Director for the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity Programs at Western Carolina University. In this role, he conducted fact-finding for complaints of discrimination based on covered groups of the Civil Rights Act (1964), Title IX, FERPA, the ADA, and sexual orientation, and gender identity/expression. He advocates for diversity and inclusion of all groups on campus regardless of differences. A graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, he holds a doctorate in Rehabilitation and is a nationally certified rehabilitation counselor. Some of his roles prior to coming to Western Carolina University include: Teacher/houseparent serving autistic children, Correctional Officer and Program Assistant with the NC Dept. of Corrections, Rehabilitation Counselor with the NC Div. of Vocational Rehabilitation, and Program Manager with the Region V Rehabilitation Continuing Education Program. He is a former Professor at Southern Univ.-Baton Rouge, Assistant Professor in the Division of Rehabilitation Counseling from UNC-Chapel Hill, and former adjunct for East Carolina Univ., and Thomas Univ. He is a former Fellow from the NC Center for the Advancement of Teaching with numerous publications, grants, and research. He continues to teach via distance learning for Alabama State Univ. Some of his awards include the Oldelft National Research Award First Place - American Society of Radiologic Technologists, Chicago, IL, Outstanding Young Men of America, and Order of the Long Leaf Pine from Governor James B. Hunt.
