Bio:
I came from the world of K12 education before becoming a Canvas Trainer for Instructure. I was a technology and instructional coach, a Canvas mentor, a school Admin in Canvas and a Video Production, Science and Social Studies teacher in the middle grades. I have a BA degree in History and a MA degree in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of Central Florida. I am passionate about blending instructional design methods, pedagogy and technology integration to make classroom content more accessible, relevant and engaging for students.
I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan and work remotely as a CSM. I am so excited to be part of a company with a solid vision and unparalleled support for their clients. I enjoy being part of a team who builds product knowledge and confidence for our Canvas community. My early experiences with Canvas were as a graduate student and then as a teacher who utilized Canvas to support and enhance classroom instruction. After struggling through several other LMS products, I realized I had finally found the one that would make the biggest impact on my instructional practices. Canvas helped me create a more open, yet structured learning environment for my students and I knew I had to spread my enthusiasm to other teachers, schools and districts!
In my spare time, I love to travel and explore new places. I enjoy all types of music, especially alternative and rock, and have been to over 150 concerts in the past ten years. I went on a Walking Dead cruise last year (I survived!) and I have a healthy obsession with all things Halloween and zombies. I also like comics, conventions and superheroes. And I am a huge Michigan football fan...Go Blue!
