Bio:
My background is as a health system pharmacist with over 20 years experience in hospital pharmacy with a specialization in Parenteral Nutrition. I graduated from Duquesne University in 1989 with a BS in Pharmacy. My pharmacy career began with 3 years as a director of pharmacy for Hospital Albert Schweitzer in Deschapelles Haiti. This led to a consultant position with the World Health Organization in Port-au-Prince Haiti and the island of Montserrat in the Caribbean, giving me, my first appreciation of alternative healing modalities.
In 2009, I completed my Certificate in Medical Herbalism and a Masters in Nutrition and Integrative Health from MUIH. She completed her thesis on The Dietary Connections to Inflammatory Bowel Disease : a Focus on Fats in December 2013.
My love of teaching began as a preceptor for pharmacy students. Pharmacy has traditionally been a profession founded on apprenticeship. Over the past 6 years, I has taken on the role of pharmacy resident adviser because of a love for sharing my experience and knowledge.
At MUIH I teach ISCi632A Foundations of Health and Wellness 1 , ISCI632B Foundations of Health and Wellness II and HRB622 Herbal Pharmacy
My eclectic experiences give me a unique perspective on disease, illness, health and wellness. I value what tradition, personal experience and science bring to the pursuit of wellness and bring these values to my practice in an integrative discharge clinic and my teaching. Holding each of these perspectives in balance is the foundation of an integrative practice. I am looking forward to our journey of exploration together this trimester.
