I'd also like to hide or archive old announcements, so students no longer are distracted by them but I have a record of them.   I believe there is high demand for this feature.

I take screenshots of old announcements and save them.  This is for CYA purposes only: to deal with students who complain they weren't informed about things.

I have the same problem.  I can edit the announcement, but I can't delete an image from it. I can shrink the image until it's practically invisible, but that's it.
