With her previous experience as teacher and professional trainer of over 10 years, multi-linguist Dr. Asherian joined CSN in 1998 first as an adjunct faculty member, and has continued with a long-time standing of excellence in service to the college. After just a year of teaching Computer Information Systems at CSN, she became the Interactive Learning Center Manager at the West Charleston Campus in 1999. In 2001 Asherian began contributing her skills as an Instructional Designer and Senior Analyst with the eLearning Office, all the while following her passion to teach with the college as an adjunct faculty member in the Education, Economics and Dental Hygiene departments In her years of service at CSN, besides providing solutions to using online technologies and training on pedagogical aspects of online education for faculty and students, Dr. Asherian found opportunity to serve on almost 30 college wide committees and contribute to college programs, such as assisting in the creation of the Online Teaching Certificate program (developing 5 of the courses), helping to build an online Tutor Training Program, and redesigning and re-developing the Executive Leadership Program. Dr. Asherian holds several certifications and recognitions, including being nominated for Women in Technology Mentor, Best Part Time Faculty Online, and was voted as Administrative Faculty of the Year in 2010. She was the grant recipient of EDUCAUSE in 2013, is certified as a Canvas trainer, and has extensive certification in Quality Matters including Peer reviewing, facilitation, and being a Master Reviewer. She also has published two articles on Distance Education in the USDLA magazine. With her love and drive for education, Dr. Asherian obtained her B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, her M.S. in Education Administration from California State University, and went on to obtain her Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction in Education from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and Ed.D. in Instructional Design and Distance Education from NOVA Southeastern University. She continues to inspire others to achieve greater heights through her educational leadership, her involvement in community service, and her love for people.
