Help with signing up students

Hi -

Our school relied on free Schoology accounts that are now being closed at the end of October. So, my school has ported everything to canvas. However, we are having difficulty simply signing up new students for courses. Our students will primarily access these courses from tablets or phones. We have installed the student apps, but the join codes do not work (invalid code) when the students try to use them and sign up for accounts. 

I have searched for help, but most seems to discuss paid accounts. I need help with these questions:

1. Can I get step-by-step instructions on how to sign new students up to courses?

2. How can we delete student / teacher accounts?

I have really searched a lot, but we are getting frustrated. Your help would be appreciated.
