I teach mathematics at Northern Virginia Community College.

I am constantly frustrated by the poor performance of Speed Grader annotation. I am accustomed to digital writing in Microsoft One-Note and Microsoft Word. There, I can write, erase, and insert text smoothly. In Speed Grader, I must check or delete each mark or group of marks. Often, the check or delete icon blocks what I am trying to annotate.

Why can't Speed Grader adopt a more efficient set of annotation tools?  Clearly, the technology already exists.

For short assignments, I try to use Speed Grader. For exams, I paste each page into One-Note, annotate there, convert the page to a PDF, and then upload into Canvas Assignments for my students.
