Dear Canvas Credentials Community!

We want to inform you about an upcoming AWS upgrade scheduled to enhance our system’s performance and security. While we are working to make these improvements as seamless as possible, there may be brief periods of service interference during the upgrade.

Upgrade Schedule and Potential Interference

To minimize disruption, we’ve scheduled the upgrade during off-peak hours for each environment. Here’s when you might experience temporary interruptions:

  • AU Environment:
    • Date: September 9
    • Time: 12:00 AM AEST/ 10:00 PM AWST
  • SG Environment:
    • Date: September 9
    • Time: 12:00 AM SGT
  • EU Server:
    • Date: September 9
    • Time: 10:00 PM CET
  • CA and US Servers:
    • Date: September 10
    • Time: 4:00 AM EDT/ 1:00 AM PDT

What to Expect

During the upgrade, you may experience brief interruptions of up to 10 minutes. While we aim to complete the upgrade as quickly as possible, please be aware of the following potential impacts:

Affected Services:

  • Registration: Both username/password creation and social account linking will be temporarily unavailable.
  • Login: Login via username/password, Single Sign-On (SSO), and social logins will be temporarily unavailable.
  • Social Account Linking: Linking new social accounts will be disrupted.
  • Access/Request Tokens: Generation of access tokens and request tokens will be unavailable.
  • User Merge and Deletion: These actions may encounter issues and be buggy during the upgrade window.

What Remains Unaffected:

  • Badge Awarding and Syncing: These features will remain fully operational.
  • User Sessions: Logged-in users will be able to use the product without any interruptions.
  • APIs: The v2 APIs will remain available throughout the upgrade.
  • Issuer/Badge Creation and Modification: These activities will not be affected.
  • LTI Version: This will continue to function as expected.

We have some credentials that are still listed as "updating" for over a week now... When will the process be finished?
