Over the past few months, we've implemented several UI and UX improvements to the Discussion Summaries feature preview, driven by the valuable feedback you've shared with us.
What is a Discussion Summary?
Discussion Summaries is an AI-powered tool within Discussions that provides instructors with concise summaries of conversations. This allows educators to quickly grasp the key points of a discussion without needing to read every single reply.
Discussion Summaries is currently offered as a feature preview, available as an account-level feature option exclusively for educators.
What's New?
Custom Prompts and Summaries Now Saved per User
Users can now individually enable or disable Discussion Summaries. Additionally, the most recent summary generated by a user, including any custom prompts they used, will automatically load when the module is opened.
Displaying the Daily Limit
Each user has a daily limit of generating 25summaries. With these updates, users can now easily see how many summaries they have already generated.
Indicating New Activity Since the Last Summary
An alert will now notify users if new replies have been added, or if existing replies have been edited or deleted since the last summary was generated. This ensures users are aware of content changes and can regenerate the summary to obtain the most up-to-date information. Summary feature based on the feedback you have shared with us.
Additional UI changes
Some smaller UI changes include explanatory text for the thumbs up/thumbs down feedback and relocating the Generate Summary button adjacent to the Reply button within the Discussion topic.
