Dear Canvas Credentials Community,

We're here with an important update as we progress on our journey towards enhanced credentialing experiences. Building upon our previous communication, we want to reiterate the importance of the ongoing transition from legacy Canvas Credentials LTI 1.1 to its upgraded version.

Reiterating the Change and How to Upgrade:

As previously communicated, the phased sunset of legacy Canvas Credentials LTI is underway. For those still utilizing the legacy LTI 1.1, we encourage you to refer to our comprehensive upgrade guide for a seamless transition process. Upgrading ensures optimized user experiences, improved performance, and uninterrupted support for your credentialing journey.

Impact on Users:

This change specifically affects the usage of the legacy LTI 1.1. Free users can rest assured that they can still leverage the product on the new UI without any disruption. Our commitment to providing a cohesive user experience remains steadfast, and we're dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition for all users.

Automatic Upgrades for Inactive Customers:

We're pleased to announce that all inactive customers (who haven't utilized the legacy LTI 1.1 in the past 6 months) will be automatically upgraded to the new version by the end of June. This proactive approach aims to minimize disruptions and ensure that all users can benefit from the latest features and improvements.

Upgrade Process for Active Customers:

For our active customers, you have the opportunity to upgrade yourselves before we initiate automatic upgrades at the end of Q2. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the upgraded version and its benefits. Should you encounter any challenges or have questions during the upgrade process, our support team is here to assist you every step of the way.

Final Thoughts:

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate this transition together. Your feedback and input are invaluable to us as we strive to provide you with the best possible credentialing experience. Stay tuned for further updates and announcements as we work towards enriching our platform and enhancing your credentialing journey.

Thank you for being part of the Canvas Credentials community.

Best regards,

Canvas Credentials Team

@DoraJekkel

Does this also mean that admins should plan on Badgr being removed from the EduAppCenter?  We currently have this as an approved app that instructors can add to their course without us needing to install for an entire account/sub-account.  This also allowed them to perform the install themselves from the pre-approved list of apps without us needing to give them the "Manage LTI" permission.

@DoraJekkel

Dora, I have the same question as @JamesSekcienski

What happens if we hide Badgr from the EduAppCenter?

If we have a course currently using the integration from the EduAppCenter, what happens if it is hidden/removed?

@JamesSekcienski , @juliejohnson Thank you for your questions.

This update only has an affect on the UI, the visualisation of the integration, we are not upgrading the LTI 1.1 integrations to 1.3, therefore there is no affect on the Badgr app in EduAppCenter with this change, you can absolutely continue to use it!

Hi @DoraJekkel ,

Did the work to update the inactive courses take place at the end of April? I did not see any sort of release note or update indicating whether this work had been completed.

Is there a more specific time frame, or will a more specific time frame be communicated at a later date, for the upgrade of active users than "end of Q2?" We would like to be able to communicate with our users ahead of time with a clear deadline that they should anticipate.

Thank you!

@jmerlenbach2 Thank you for the callout!

The automatic update indeed didn't take place yet, it will be done until the end of June.

We will communicate any further date, until that we can say that until this date (30th of June) we would like to move everyone to the updated experience, with automated, or manual updates.

Thanks,
Dora

Hi @DoraJekkel - did this work to automatically upgrade both active and inactive Legacy 1.1 users occur at the end of quarter 2 as described here, or is there a new timeline where this should be expected? I thought I had seen an active Legacy 1.1 launch recently but I may have been mistaken.

Thank you for your help!

Hi @jmerlenbach2

We have update all the LTI 1.1 courses interface, but this was all about the experience change. We haven't updated LTI 1.1 courses to 1.3 with this upgrade. Do you have any courses where it seem to be not upgraded?

Thanks,
Dora
