In this SIS Beta release (May 17), teachers can match a course’s assignment groups to specific categories in their SIS system gradebook.
This feature is expected to be generally available for all clients before Northern Hemisphere Fall Start of 2021. This update allows for greater flexibility within current SIS functionality.
Note: Users need to contact their CSM to have this feature turned on in their beta account. Users need to have near-real time Grade Passback already configured for one of the initially supported SISs.

Category Sync
Teachers can match a course’s assignment groups to specific categories in their school's SIS system. Previously, teachers had to manually verify that their assignment group names exactly matched the category names in their SIS system. This update allows teachers the flexibility to create Canvas assignment groups and sync assignments from each assignment group into a specific SIS category.
