I am able to create (seemingly) New Quizzes in my published courses, but not in a sandbox course. I was able to create a New Quiz and build it in a published course. However, when I copied it to my sandbox course, and tried to build on the copy, I received the robot error. I am unsure what I may be doing wrong, as I am able to use this feature in other courses.
Solved! Go to Solution.
We reached out to Canvas Support and figured out that it was because I was assigned the "designer" role. Designers do not have access to new Quizzes. Changed my role to "teacher" and new Quizzes are back on!
Hi @KatelynStutzman ...
Within your sandbox course, go to "Settings", and then click on the "Feature Options" tab. Do you see a "New Quizzes" row? If so, is the switch to the right of "New Quizzes" turned off or on? It needs to be turned on (green) in order for New Quizzes to work.
Please keep us posted here in the Community...thanks.
The New Quizzes is turned on (green) and I also have Default to New Quizzes on as well.

Hmmm...that is a bit odd. How about this...in your sandbox course, are you able to create a brand new New Quiz instead of copying/importing from your published course to the sandbox course?
I can open the page where you input the points total, due date, assignment group, rubric, etc. But when I click build, I get the same error as the copied quiz.
@KatelynStutzman ...
ok. I'd definitely recommend reaching out to Canvas Support about this issue. Since I cannot see your Canvas environment or any of your courses, the Canvas Support team should be able to assist you more. Please come back to this topic to post an update once you've had a chance to speak with them. Thanks!
Thank you so much for your help! I will definitely update this as I get more information/help!

Thank you for circling back to this post to provide an update. I will mark your response as the solution so that others who have similar issues can see your original question and the solution that worked for you. Thanks again!
