Knowing that classic quizzes are scheduled to sunset in the summer, I want to make sure that there is a level of function that is the same as classic quiz. I was told this morning there is not. If a student leaves the quiz in new quizzes to cheat there is no way to track that in new quizzes.
Unless the support person was wrong, does anyone have a solution in new quizzes to track if they leave the quiz?

Quiz logs alone should not be the deciding factor in academic integrity cases because Canvas was designed to support teaching and learning, not to detect academic dishonesty. While Canvas does log data as users interact with the system, that data gathering is purposely limited to enabling Canvas features, informing support staff, and empowering users. Any interpretation of that data is always subjective. User activity logging in Canvas, including Quiz Logs, is not specifically designed to validate academic integrity or identify/imply cheating during a quiz. Instead, Canvas enables our customers to integrate external tools that may be specifically created to address academic integrity like Respondus or Honorlock.
The information found in the Quiz Logs can be used to guide a conversation with a student in question, but we do not recommend them to be used as evidence that a student is cheating. Please reach out to your Canvas LMS Admin if you have any additional questions.
