Character limit in multiple choice view field

Does anyone know why Canvas limits the number of shown characters in the multiple choice questions to 30 or less. In responses that are longer, it is a nuisance to have to use the left and right arrows to read through a complete sentence. It should be a super easy fix.

@sandman in rich content editor you can drag the lower right corner to make the viewing field bigger.

Yes, if I want to click on the pencil and go into the full field, I could do this, but it would be great to have a decent-sized field that you can edit without an additional click in order to review the answer.  Even a 100-character field would be an improvement.
