Sometimes it feels like thereās an app for everything ā including mental wellness and mindfulness. With so many options, itās helpful to hear what actually works for others. So, letās do an app swap!
What apps or websites do you use to support your mental health? Whether itās for mindfulness, stress management, focus, or self-care, please share your favorites!
I'll start by sharing one of my favorites - Finch. There are a lot of habit tracking apps out there, but what I like about Finch is that it focuses more on creating healthy habits that support your mental well-being.
Jackie got me started on Finch and I'm 110 days strong! The noticeable difference it makes in my day-to-day life is crazy! I love the micro habit tracking and it's helped me to build some great daily habits for myself.
Iāve tried a few apps, but Iāve found the Apple iOS Health appās State of Mind āLog an Emotion or Moodā feature surprisingly helpful. Itās simple to use, sends gentle reminders to check in, and lets you track your mood on a sliding scale. You can also choose specific words to describe how youāre feeling and identify key factors influencing your mood (like health, family, or current events). I love being able to spot trendsālike how my mood is always lowest when current events are a factor, but highest when fitness is. Itās been a great way to build self-awareness.
Habitica is fun because it turns completing goals and taking care of yourself into a game. Your character earns "experience points" every time you complete a goal or challenge. It divides goals into health, experience, and mana points you can earn towards your character. For example, going to the gym increases your health points for your character. Reading a book would count towards the experience points. Brushing your teeth gives you mana points.
I also like affirmation apps called I am and Motiviation for daily affirmations that help me get through the day. It sends you inspiring quotes and affirmations to inspire you and keep you going.
Apple also has an Apple Watch app called Mindfulness which sends you prompts to log your state of mind, reflect, and breathe which only take minutes of your time. It's a nice little pause throughout the day to be mindful. Apps like Calm and Headspace also offer mindfulness practices through their apps.
Love this question @JackieStoss ! I highly recommend Stoic, a journaling app that I use daily. https://www.getstoic.com/. From their website:
At its core, stoic helps you prepare for your day in the morning and reflect on your day in the evening. In the process, we also guide you to journal with thought-provoking prompts, build better habits, track your moods, and more.
stoic offers guided journals that covers all aspects of life from happiness, gratitude, productivity, self-discovery, stress & anxiety, relationships, therapy, sleep, and so much more. Every week, we cover new themes and provide a new prompt each day.
