Leveraging Custom Reports for Administrators and Teachers

There are many reports that provide lots of great data in Mastery Connect. However, be sure not to overlook our Custom Reports! Custom Reports allow users to view their data in different ways than the typical assessment reports provided in Mastery Connect. Custom Reports allow users to view their data in different ways than the typical assessment reports provided in Mastery Connect.
They are a great way to compare multiple assessments or multiple data points within the same assessment in one view and can be used by administrators and teachers in specific cases.
What does a Custom Report look like?
- Cut score data
- The number of students who took the assessment
- Assessment data in the Report Data list
- You can also print, clone, or edit the report
How can I access and create Custom Reports as an administrator?
- Select Admin from the Navigation bar. Hover over Reporting and select Custom Reports.
- Select Add Report in the right-hand corner and title your report.
- Select the type of assessment you’d like to add to your report (teachers can only select from Formative Assessments).
4. Select Add Assessment to select an assessment to add to the report.
5. Locate the assessment you’d like to add to the report (and how many times).
How can I leverage Custom Reports as an administrator?
Custom Reports allow you to build reports that can include:
- Benchmark data
- Formative and summative data
Custom Reports also allow you to compare multiple assessments to each other, and specifically look at various areas, such as:
- Demographics
- Standards
- Teachers
- School
What’s so custom about Custom Reports?
Consider the types of reports that you generate at your school or organization. You can leverage the multiple filters shown below to customize your report as needed.

- Select Trackers from the Navigation bar. Select Custom Reports.
- Select Add Report in the right-hand corner and title your report.
- Select Add Assessment to select an assessment to add to the report.
- Locate the assessment you’d like to add to the report (and how many times).
How can I leverage Custom Reports as a teacher?
While teachers may not be able to add benchmark assessments to their custom reports, they still have the ability to filter data.
Custom Reports Use Cases
Administrators:
- Breaking apart the performance of each standard by school, teacher, or class period
- Comparing benchmark assessments to formative assessments
- Identifying the performance of a targeted student group for progress monitoring
Teachers:
- Comparing individual student performance to class performance
- Identifying the performance of a student group (ELL, IEP)
- Breaking apart the performance of each standard by student group
- Comparing pre and post-assessments for a single or multiple class periods
So what’s the big deal?
BIG DEAL #1:
Custom Reports allows you to add the SAME assessment to the report multiple times.
This feature provides you the opportunity to break apart the same assessment in a number of different ways to best meet the needs of your organization.
BIG DEAL #2:
People are busy and usually need to generate reports quickly. Custom Reports allow you to build the report out BEFORE the students have taken the assessment!
This feature provides you with the opportunity to build out the report and once the students begin taking the assessment, the data will automatically flow into your report!
